ReMake Lab
Prototyping Localized Recycling and Manufacturing
What Are We Doing?
Our project is focused on reducing our carbon footprint here on Lopez. We are developing means to localize recycling and manufacturing by building a shredder and extruder to convert used plastic bottles into 3D printer filament. We plan to put a shredder at the dump so volunteers and fellow recyclers can grind plastic bottles to contribute to our 3D printer outreach program to Lopez Island Elementary, Middle, and High School students. We are also working on making useful products, the latest being a prosthetic finger, and we are contributing to the growing community of crowd-sourcing.
We are dedicated to localizing recycling, creating useful products, engaging the community, and empowering students to achieve their fullest potential and getting them interested, focused, and engaged. |
